COMIC WORLD'S CREATURE DOUBLE FEATURE & *Night Owl* SATURDAY FRIGHT NIGHT THEATRE for December 28th, 2013

Happy Last Saturday Before New Year's!!!

Welcome to COMIC WORLD'S CREATURE DOUBLE FEATURE
and
*Night Owl* SATURDAY FRIGHT NIGHT THEATRE, courtesy of YouTube and Hulu!!

Relax and lose yourself in the midnight and early morning hours with thrills and chills, and a few laughs, with these great old movies and TV shows, available on YouTube, which can be downloaded and burned using YouTube Downloader (available on c|net) so you can enjoy them in the comfort of your favorite easy chair!!
(go to: http://download.cnet.com/YTD-Video-Downloader/3000-2071_4-10647340.html)

Hulu programs seem to download with Freemake Video Converter for that internet channel.
(go to: http://download.cnet.com/Freemake-Video-Converter/3000-2194_4-75218346.html)

Download, burn and watch these incredible films from the '70s through the '90s, because it's been my experience that they will disappear, especially from YouTube, after a VERY short length of time!! Seriously.

Tonight, in the spirit of the CLASSIC "Creature Feature", we're posting THREE GREAT HORROR film links!!

First up in our CREATURE DOUBLE FEATURE is a classic tingler starring Timothy Daly and Kelly Preston: "Spellbinder"!! This one will keep you guessing right up until the very end!!

Next, Corey Haim and Michael Ironside star in the Dean Koontz classic, "Watchers"!!!

Finally, our *Night Owl* SATURDAY FRIGHT NIGHT THEATRE features a film that's a little more in the holiday ... uh, spirit .... as Roz Kelly stars in "New Year's Evil"!! This'll creep ya out!!!

Once again, I remind you that some films and TV shows only remain on YouTube a short time, so my best advice is to download 'em quick, & watch 'em later! That's what I'm doing!! These are, in many cases, hard-to-find treasures that may never be seen again!!

Our goal is to share these links for old shows so you can enjoy the convenience of these classics from the Golden, Silver and Bronze Ages of motion pictures and television, including those posted for our *Night Owl* SATURDAY FRIGHT NIGHT THEATRE!!

For those watching our *Night Owl* selection late into the night -- you know 'WHO' you are -- we have episodes of ~ "The Addams Family", "One Step Beyond", "The Outer Limits", the aforementioned "New Year's Evil", and another classic episode of "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" to round out tonight's selection!!

"This New Year's, you're invited to a killer party..."

New Year's Eve is on its way and television's most famous punk rock lady icon, Diane Sullivan or Blaze as her fans call her, is holding a late night countdown celebration of music and partying. All is going well until Diane receives a phone call from an odd sounding stranger claiming his name is Evil, who announces on live television that when the clock strikes twelve in each time zone, a 'Naughty Girl' will be punished (murdered), then the killer signs off with a threat claiming that Diane will be the last Naughty Girl to be punished. The studio crew takes safety measures and heightens security, but in the local insane asylum a nurse is found viciously slaughtered at the stroke of midnight EST. The killer records his victims as he murders them and calls back the station each time playing the tapes back to prove he's serious. There are many suspects as to who the mysterious killer/caller is; a crazed fan, a religious psychotic, or maybe it's someone much closer to Diane than anyone could have ever expected.

CHRISTMAS DAY 2013 - My gift to you!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Well, I hear Santa's sleigh barreling overhead!! No, no, not the one driven with Goldberg -- that was just a movie! But a FUN one (see Saturday night's Creature Double Feature *Night Owl* offering...)

Although I am posting this a couple of hours early here from Florida, in some parts of the world, it's already Christmas Day!!

So for those of you who may be anxiously awaiting the Doctor Who Christmas Special (me too!), I wanted to bring you a couple videos that have meant a lot to me over the years.

"J.T." aired as part of the CBS Saturday morning Children's Television Workshop in 1969, starring Kevin Hooks at the young age of 10 in the title role, with Ja’net DuBois (Willona on "Good Times") as his mother. Written by Jane Wagner, it later won the illustrious Peabody Award after airing in Prime Time.

The emotional story of a young Harlem boy, J.T. Gamble, who finds a sickly cat in an abandoned building. Not long after, as Christmas approaches, J.T.’s transistor radio is stolen and he’s chased by two bullies from the condemned building, only to witness his cat run over in the street by a car. Eventually, Christmas Day arrives, and J.T. is given a kitten by the neighborhood grocer, giving the boy a second chance to start again.

While the film is a tearjerker, it ends with an upbeat feeling of joy, and makes a great Christmas Day short movie. It's a great film for all ages, including kids, who will benefit from this wonderful, wholesome show!

Here are the links to all five acts.
(I wish I could embed the video, but Blogger has other ideas.)

J.T.

Part 1

Part 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fApFGwd4aZc

Part 3

Part 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEEL5qa00T0

Part 5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8cKeSf7tSE

Merry Christmas!!

For my second run of videos, I'm only posting the link to the first (of 8). As each chapter ends, there's a link to the next part.

This video is Dr. Leo Buscaglia: Stories of Christmas Love Part 1.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBJGh1tbNcM

Doctor Buscaglia (pronounced Boo-Scahl-ee-a) was known the world over as the "Love" doctor, as his motivational speeches tended to lean in the direction of giving and receiving, loving one another, and healing existing relationships while forging new ones among his many examples of how people should learn to love and accept one another for who they are.

His Stories of Christmas Love is powerfully inspirational, touching, joyful, and will make you appreciate each other more each and every day, because we all know how stressful the holidays can be. It's easier sometimes to yell at one another than hug and forgive each other.

When it comes to love, Leo Buscaglia would say, "Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing."

So this Christmas, when you feel tired and irritable, instead of getting mad, hug one another. It's worth the risk!

And if you watch to the very end of part 8 in this incredible series of short videos, you will understand why I'm saying, consider this Christmas Blog today my HUG -- from me to you!

May you all be blessed today, throughout the New Year to come, and always!!

Have a Merry Christmas!!

Help Pat & Ashley catch up the rent & improve the comic book store

Dear Comic World Family,

We need your help to get back on our feet.

I'm Patrick Potter, and I own Comic World, the oldest comic book store in the Tampa Bay area; we're located in Largo, Florida. My fiancee, Ashley Kline, helps run the store. We're not a big conglomerate that makes tons of money. We're just two people supporting ourselves, trying to get by like everybody else. Ashley is attending St. Petersburg College going for her Associates Degree to become an RN, and will go on for her Bachelor's Degree. As soon as she has her RN, she will apply for work at one of the local hospitals. She should be done with her Associates in Science for her RN degree in 18 months.

Until then, we need the store to keep things going, keep the bills paid here and at home. However, because of several problems that arose this year, at present we are behind on our store rent and desperately need your help.

Our problems began in 2010, when we were both injured in a car accident, rear-ended by a careless driver while we were stopped at a stop sign while exiting a grocery store parking lot. The other driver did not hit her brakes. While Ashley's injuries are troublesome -- two bulging discs cause chronic migraines, and she has a tilted kneecap, she is able to function better than I am. I have two herniated discs, three bulging discs, sciatic nerve pain & damage, and short-term memory problems from a concussion. My knees were also injured. I now walk with a cane.

A year later, I suffered a retinal detachment which may have been caused by the accident. No one knows why my retina detached, but the sight was saved with some loss to my peripheral vision. How this affects me personally, overall, is that I am unable to exert myself, lift much weight, and many simple things -- even standing or sitting for long periods -- cause me considerable pain.

Neither of our cases have settled. I require surgery on my back, but will have to muddle through until I can afford it. That is not why I am writing. It is simply part of why we are behind with our bills.

We were working hard to get caught up, and had made several large strides, even though we had to move the store in 2011 to a smaller location 2 miles west from where we were. Yes, that move hurt us, but we were even bouncing back from that, and were making progress until this past summer and fall.

In the summer of 2013, our air conditioner went out at home. We had to have three separate repair jobs done. At one point, we were coming home to 90 degree heat in August, the hottest month of the year. Ashley ended up in Morton Plant Hospital's ER with dehydration from the heat. Obviously, I had to pay for the repairs.

Then, on Labor Day, our car broke down. Our car, a Toyota Celica, is an old junker. The car I used to have was totaled in the accident back in 2010. Over a sixteen day period, I had to pay a mechanic hundreds of dollars to get the car back on the road while we begged rides from people back and forth to get the store open every day and get home at night.

This, plus doctor bills, put us behind on our store rent. However, our landlord was working with us to allow us to catch up. We had a target date of February 7th, 2014 to get caught up by, and we were on track with that. We thought we would have no problem doing so.

Two days ago, though, the landlord came in and said that he will no longer be managing this center after the first of the year. His last expected day with the plaza is December 31st, 2013. After that, the family that owns the plaza will take over, and will not honor the deal we had with him.

That deal -- to catch up by Feb. 7, 2014 -- is now null and void.

Therefore, he offered us a one time deal: in order to wipe the slate clean, we need $3000.00 by December 31st. Ten days from today. We will be marked "paid in full" if we pay him that money, and be able to go forward with the new landlords, completely caught up. We want to make sure we have no problems with our new landlords.

Through GO FUND ME...

We've set an overall goal of $6000.00, with the first $3000.00 paying off the arrears -- the back rent. The rest will help us establish a solid foundation for the store. Moving forward, we would use the balance to grow the business by establishing a strong web presence through a new website, and using some of the money to advertise our location, since so many customers lost us in this last move.

Please ... help us make this deadline for the $3000.00 before December 31st.
http://www.gofundme.com/5v7og0

I still believe in what we do here.
I've personally been with Comic World for 31 years. I've been through some tough times before, bouncing back because I know that what I do here is important. We're more that just a store that sells comic books. We help kids learn to read by encouraging them to look away from the video games, to grow as a community of good readers and thinkers. Many of them have aspired to become writers and artists. At least one kid who shopped here became a journalist. Others went into law and medicine. Historically, comic books have helped many kids learn to read and inspired them to take up a pen or brush and become artists.

I was so close to finally being even with my bills. I might not have a dime left over, but if Comic World succeeds -- if I succeed -- in keeping my bills paid until Ashley finishes nursing school, then it will have helped one more person realize their dreams, who can in turn give back to our community.

I'm not looking to get rich quick. I'm just asking for help so I can survive.

For those who might be saying, "Well, I'm not comfortable donating money to this guy's comic store," then please, come on by and look us over for yourself.

We're at 1901 West Bay Drive, suite 9, in the Village Plaza in Largo, Florida. Our phone number is 727-656-5000.

We're the original store that began as Geppi's Comic World way back in 1982, and I began here not long after it opened. I bought the store on December 1st, 1992, and I've been hard at it for over 31 years. The plan for the shop was to expand into online sales. We've already established a presence on Facebook and Amazon.com. I recently began a blog called "21st Century Comic World". We are working on a website, an eBay store and more. As I said, we *were* working with the landlord, and everything was going according to plan until this unexpected development.

We are open every day
right up through Christmas Eve, and will be open December 26th straight through December 31st, every day until 8pm. We've been running holiday sales long before this development, since mid-November, and are continuing through the end of the year. So if a donation isn't your style, don't give something for nothing. Come by and see us and we'll give you a great deal, better than you'll get anywhere else!

If you're not sure we're for real, please check out the store on Facebook:
www.facebook.com/Comic.World.1

I also have the blog I spoke of, and wrote about my 31 years with the store (pictures included):
http://comicworld1982.blogspot.com/2013/11/a-21st-century-comic-world-man.html

If you're willing to help us out, either by stopping by or making a donation, I know I speak for Ashley when I say, we both humbly thank you.

With only a few days before Christmas, I have to admit, this pretty much blew my mind, especially when things were finally almost all caught up and on track for the first time since our car accident.

Thank you.

Merry Christmas.

Patrick Potter

This week, we're posting all our links in one HUGE Christmas Present Post!!!

(go to: http://download.cnet.com/YTD-Video-Downloader/3000-2071_4-10647340.html)

Hulu programs seem to download with Freemake Video Converter for that internet channel.
(go to: http://download.cnet.com/Freemake-Video-Converter/3000-2194_4-75218346.html)

Download, burn and watch these incredible films from the '70s through the '90s, because it's been my experience that they will disappear, especially from YouTube, after a VERY short length of time!! Seriously.

Tonight, we're posting several GREAT HORROR film links!!

First up in our *Creature Double Feature* is the classic 1964 film "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians"!! What can I say? I hadda post it!! LOL

Next up, a serial killer comes back to life as an evil snowman in the grim, holiday film, "Jack Frost" (not to be confused with the Michael Keaton movie!)

In our *Night Owl* Saturday Fright Night Theatre, we have our usual TV classics, including a special Addams Family Christmas!! Then, it's a short film called "Christmas Morning", followed by "Santa's Slay"!! The guest cast is fantastic, and the opening scene is memorable to "slay" the least!! We also have episodes of "One Step Beyond", "The Outer Limits", plus another tremendous episode of "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" to round out the night's selection!!

Each film in tonight's CREATURE DOUBLE FEATURE is posted for your viewing pleasure courtesy of YouTube and Hulu. Please click on the link to go to YouTube to enjoy these two feature films. If you have YouTube Downloader or another program that will allow you to download these films, you can even watch them on your TV if you can download and burn them to DVD. Your choice.

IT'S A CHRISTMAS SALE!!
