CHRISTMAS DAY 2013 - My gift to you!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Well, I hear Santa's sleigh barreling overhead!! No, no, not the one driven with Goldberg -- that was just a movie! But a FUN one (see Saturday night's Creature Double Feature *Night Owl* offering...)

Although I am posting this a couple of hours early here from Florida, in some parts of the world, it's already Christmas Day!!

So for those of you who may be anxiously awaiting the Doctor Who Christmas Special (me too!), I wanted to bring you a couple videos that have meant a lot to me over the years.

"J.T." aired as part of the CBS Saturday morning Children's Television Workshop in 1969, starring Kevin Hooks at the young age of 10 in the title role, with Ja’net DuBois (Willona on "Good Times") as his mother. Written by Jane Wagner, it later won the illustrious Peabody Award after airing in Prime Time.

The emotional story of a young Harlem boy, J.T. Gamble, who finds a sickly cat in an abandoned building. Not long after, as Christmas approaches, J.T.’s transistor radio is stolen and he’s chased by two bullies from the condemned building, only to witness his cat run over in the street by a car. Eventually, Christmas Day arrives, and J.T. is given a kitten by the neighborhood grocer, giving the boy a second chance to start again.

While the film is a tearjerker, it ends with an upbeat feeling of joy, and makes a great Christmas Day short movie. It's a great film for all ages, including kids, who will benefit from this wonderful, wholesome show!

Here are the links to all five acts.
(I wish I could embed the video, but Blogger has other ideas.)

Merry Christmas!!

For my second run of videos, I'm only posting the link to the first (of 8). As each chapter ends, there's a link to the next part.

This video is Dr. Leo Buscaglia: Stories of Christmas Love Part 1.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBJGh1tbNcM

Doctor Buscaglia (pronounced Boo-Scahl-ee-a) was known the world over as the "Love" doctor, as his motivational speeches tended to lean in the direction of giving and receiving, loving one another, and healing existing relationships while forging new ones among his many examples of how people should learn to love and accept one another for who they are.

His Stories of Christmas Love is powerfully inspirational, touching, joyful, and will make you appreciate each other more each and every day, because we all know how stressful the holidays can be. It's easier sometimes to yell at one another than hug and forgive each other.

When it comes to love, Leo Buscaglia would say, "Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing."

So this Christmas, when you feel tired and irritable, instead of getting mad, hug one another. It's worth the risk!

And if you watch to the very end of part 8 in this incredible series of short videos, you will understand why I'm saying, consider this Christmas Blog today my HUG -- from me to you!

May you all be blessed today, throughout the New Year to come, and always!!

Have a Merry Christmas!!
