Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated
Season 2, Episode 4
"Web of the Dreamweaver!"
2 August 2012

With Daphne back on the team, Hot Dog Water is removed as a member. Meanwhile, a creature called the Dreamweaver starts haunting people's dreams, hypnotizing them into giving up possessions nearest their hearts. In an effort to stop him, the gang teams up with Sheriff Stone, who, like those who have been attacked by the Dreamweaver, is a closeted Crypts and Creatures enthusiast, having invented the Dreamweaver in his youth.

Villain: Dreamweaver/Horbert Feist

Note: This is a parody of A Nightmare on Elm Street (Dreamweaver's power), Dreamscape (the fact that Dreamweaver invades people's dreams with a machine), and Labyrinth (the labyrinth in every dream sequence and Dreamweaver's crystal ball). Dreamweaver resembles both Freddy Kreuger and Jareth, as well as Dream from The Sandman and Marvel Comics' villain Nightmare. Also, the role-playing game featured in this episode, Crypts and Creatures, is a parody of Dungeons and Dragons. The jokes about Crypts and Creatures being addictive may be a reference to the anti-gaming film Mazes and Monsters. A fantasy sequence depicting a moment in a Crypts and Creatures game features characters that look like Legolas and Gimli from the Lord of the Rings movies. This episode and the previous one feature "Hot Dog Water" instead of Daphne in the opening credits, even though Daphne was officially back in the gang at the beginning of this episode.
